The most widely used boat building material today is made of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin. The material is characterised by high strength and low weight. The smooth outer skin is the protective polyester resin gelcoat. Its sensitivity to UV radiation leads to chalking of the gelcoat. However, regular care with the right polishes and Swissvax Gelcoat Infusion Wax can prevent this process for many years.
